Today, December 19th, 2013 United States Marine Lance Cpl. Matthew R. Rodriguez of Fairhaven, MA returned home. He had lost his life on December 11th, 2013 while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in combat operations in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.
New Bedford Guide asked me to photograph his return home and I was more then happy to give up my time to do so. There was a very sad feeling looming over the area as family, friends, veterans and strangers waited for his plane to land. American flags waving in the air with the fairly strong winds we had today, it was nice to see the community come honor our fallen hero and together mourn with his loved ones.
