2013 Wrap Up

Well another year is in the books and it was a fun one. A little over two years ago I decided to pick up a camera again and start taking pictures and it has been one of the best decisions I've made in a long time. If not for the fact that I've always been a fan of the arts, but also because its majorly therapeutic and I've made some great friends doing it.

In 2013 I had set myself two goals. The first was to try and find myself a bit with being a bit more specific with my work and the second was to get juried into a show.  Thankfully, I completed the second by getting into a show at the Darkroom Gallery in Vermont for the Color Blind exhibition for my photo "power" at the top of this page. My second goal was a bit more difficult, I honestly like taking photos, and generally the subject can be anything and I'm happy. Though I think I find the most enjoyment and success with long exposure photography, mostly seascapes.

Though the funnest thing with photography is experimenting with new techniques, gear and mediums. Sometimes this means using a point and shoot camera, a Polaroid camera, or shooting black and white or color film... and even sometimes developing it yourself.

Though as I said, experimenting is fun and playing around with new techniques, styles is always interesting. Though I haven't really gotten very into it yet, I was thinking of attempting to do some stock photography type photos, and for the hell of it I pulled out a dusty macro lens and shot these nuts (I also hastily tried flowers earlier this year, but time constraints didn't work out and they died).

As you can see the possibilities are endless and I enjoy shooting everything!  So enough of me boring you with words, here's the rest of the images I'm including with this wrap up.

And like last year, I'll end my photos with my favorite of the year, and again like last year it isn't an image I took with my camera but one where I handed the camera over to my wife and she took a picture of me and my awesome son.
